Masterpost | Day 10
In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (Or a few!) Tell us what makes it work for you, and why it appeals to you so much. Talk about what you like to see in fanworks featuring that theme most. Feel free to include recs and examples! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
So, I’ve been thinking about what I could talk for this day but there is not much that go above crossovers to be honest (post you can find here)
Let’s see… hm. I guess I do love identity porn: the confusion, the misunderstanding and finally the make up. It’s such a popular trope in some of my fandoms, and there have been tons of fanfics like this but I still avidly read every time I found one with my favourite characters. In real life it’s a big no-no because wow, how do you trust a person after that? but in fanfics, it’s great: it gives enough angst and it ends with a happy ending generally (though ID porn with unhappy ending probably exist).

Day 11
Share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
This didn't change my life, but it kinda set what I wanted.
Last year I read a book and I thought: this is how I want to write, this is actually what I want my writing style to be. I don't want to copy it, but basically, the way the author writes just appealed to me because I was working towards something similar.
The book was L'héritage des Rois-Passeurs by Manon Fargetton. It's a French Fantasy book, and there are no translations available (to my knowledge).
This is the story of two “worlds”, both deformed mirror of the other: Ombre, where magic exists, and Rive, our world.
Énora from Rive is special: she can travel from one world to another. When her family is brutally murdered, she leaves for Ombre, where her family actually comes from, and where the assassins cannot find her.
Ravenn from Ombre is the princess who rebelled and left 9 years before to chase and kill dragons in the South. When she receives news her mother is dying, she must come to inherit the throne. However, it’s not an easy task as not everyone want her back.
Intertwined, both women will have to face their past and present which will change Ombre forever.
Manon Fargetton has a straightforward writing style with detailed action scenes, flowing movements and description of facial expressions. There are no unnecessary sentences, no flowery or really formal vocabulary. The story is also very entertaining. French peeps, I really recommend this book.
It’s something I’ve been trying to work towards since I discovered how I like to write. It’s still a work in progress. Though, I still like some flowery voc, so I guess I just need to find the balance between the straightforwardness and the “poetry” I inevitably write. I love actions scenes but it’s always a pain in the ass to write, whereas I can write very easily introspection pov.
Completely unrelated (or is it?): the author and I share the same the first name and it doesn’t happen often, so I was happy about it for some reason.
